mc under Eterm

Hi everybody,
I ran into a problem trying to switch my terminal from Konsole to Eterm:
my beloved mc (GNU Midnight Commander 4.6.1a) is now unable to display graphic chars,
using always "â" wherever there should be +,-,|.

I see from the FAQ that it could be related to the font - but it keeps
on misbehaving with any font.

I see again from the FAQ that:
"Your terminfo or termcap database might have missing or incorrect
definitions for line drawing characters. Set the acsc variable
in the terminfo database like this:
    acsc=a\376k\277l\332m\300j\331n\305w\302v\301u\264t\303q\304x
    \263h\2600\333
Don't forget issue 'tic' command. This supposes you are using PC
character set. The octal values might be different for other
character sets. If you are using termcap instead of terminfo,
you should modify above solution appropriately"

... but I have no idea how to do it,
moreover I see (from Usenet posts too) that the termcap/info problems
seem to be a thing of the past, while here I'm running Fedora FC5, I
hope terminfo/cap have been debugged.

do you have any idea?

thanks...
