Star Appears before files

Hello. 
As the title says, some of my files appear with a star sign * before their
name. These files are highlighted with the same color regardless of their
type.
However, new files i added recently do not have this star and appear in
different colors based on their extentions.

I just updated my Ubuntu 10.04 to newest version. There was an update for mc
too ( ppa3 ).
