Try to contact them and ask to make Shift-Fx keys match the default
sequences in the kernel. It's not very likely to work - they've had
plenty of time to do it.
Contact Linux Standard Base and make a standard for Linux console
sequences on PC keyboards. Then apply pressure to LCT maintainers.
Both are very long term solutions. A short term solution would be to
include some code from dumpkeys in mc to read the actual escape sequences
when mc runs on Linux console.
