Your explanation is not quite clear.  Do you want a key that changes the
current panel to the directory used by the other panel or a key that
changes the other panel to the directory used by the current panel?

Assuming that you want the former, I tried to implement it, and it doesn't
feel very comfortable.  Maybe it would be better to invoke directory
history for the other panel and select the directory for the current
panel?  That would be interesting.  And you could always select the first
item - the directory currently used by the other panel.

As for M-o, I just checked emacs 21.2.1, and it implements it differenly -
M-o on files open those file for editing in another window.  Apparently,
MC cloned the behavior of old emacs, which has been improved since then.

OK, please give more information.  I don't have time to check all other
file managers.  How does it work and which key does it use?
