Here is what we need to get the translation working. - Andreas -------- Original Message --------
Hi there! (it's been a while :)) So, here's the list of missing steps to make the GNOME
website translatable :-)
- Make sure gettext & msgfmt are installed in gnome.org server Right now checking for translation updates gives a msgfmt error, probably because it's not installed. To test this, the following link shouldn't give any errors http://www.gnome.org/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wppo&checkforlangupdates=1&force=1 - Update POT file with template strings Besides the static and dynamic content already present on
damned-lies, the template strings must also be translated. To
do so, gnome-grass.pot must be updated using xgettext, by
checking all the PHP files from gnome-grass template.
WordPress documentation gives an alternative way to do the
same thing: http://codex.wordpress.org/I18n_for_WordPress_Developers#Generating_a_POT_file
- Integrate the template strings with damned lies (like
any other pot file from git)
translated PO files should be located on languages
folder[1], and PO should be named as default, like "pt_BR.po",
"es.po".
After all those items are done, managing the translation
should work entirely on http://www.gnome.org/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wppo.
There you can pull the translators work by clicking in "check
for translation updates" and push strings to translators on
"send again".
