Re: Working Draft

Below is what I have so far with the overview. I am still working on it, but you all should read it and tell me if you feel its reflective of GNOME and the marketing agenda.

Overview

GNOME 2.18 is the latest version of the GNOME Desktop; a popular, multi-platform desktop environment inclduing Linux™, UNIX™ and more. It is based on Free and Open Source Software, and has provided all of the common tools computer users have come to expect of a modern computing environment, as well as a flexible and powerful platform for software developers and content producers.

The GNOME Desktop is released every six months with new features, improvements, "bug" fixes and translations. Along with a large set of improvements, for the first time ever GNOME is now available in Arabic. Find out how you can do more of the tasks you love with GNOME 2.18's updated productivity tools, improvements for artists, musicians, and developers, or challenge a friend online with the new games!

To learn more about GNOME and the qualities that distinguish it from other computer desktop environments (like usability, accessibility, internationalization and freedom) visit the About GNOME page on our website.

Thanks.

We have some more hours/days with the graphics if you use dummy
screenshots with real names. Then you can substitute the images
without interfeering XML formatting and translation work.

We haven't discussed how to handle images. I recommend to use 1-2 big
images in the page + 2-5 medium/small, being all clickable, linking to
the original big/real size images.

Another recommendation to Gervais: forget about L10n of screenshots.
There is no time for that. We can show original images in different
locales where text itself is not relevant (the case of most
screenshots). An even more conservative approach is to show off the
Arabic screenshot we already have (totally on-topic) and that's it,
you only need to explain that GNOME 2.18 is translated in nn
languiages and then people when reading draft their own screenshots in
their minds.  ;)
