libsoup build fails under MSYS2 on Windows 7

Subject: libsoup build fails under MSYS2 on Windows 7

I obtained libsoup via git clone.
autogen.sh ran successfully.
However, libsoup/libsoup/Makefile failed with the message:
Need to define SoupGNOME_2_4_gir_MSVC_Files.  Stop.

SoupGNOME-2.4.gir is in msys32\mingw32\share\gir-1.0
SoupGNOME-2.4.typelib is in msys32\mingw32\lib\girepositry-1.0

I tried numerous methods of defining SoupGNOME_2_4_gir_MSVC_Files without success.

Any assistance will be appreciated.
