Well what I mean is that there is no visual indication that you can solo
more than one track in this situation, so the user would only find the
feature through luck or random clicking.

Besides, Ctrl-clicking is pretty nasty...

Ctrl-clicking and Ctr+Alt+clicking is usual way of doing things in
professional apps, and besides, there is no visual indicators about
that, just a little tooltips. Try Photoshop for example.

So I think tooltip informing about such possibility is enough.

I agree, which is why I proposed removing solo in place of "Mute All Tracks" /
"Unmute All Tracks" buttons - in this model it's obvious from the mute status
of each track what should be playing.

I disagree with this one. 'Solo', IMHO, is shorter and easer concept
to grasp, 'mute/unmute all tracks', however, is not.

I don't know, propably someone should pick this and try both variants
for testing sake.
