I still think that most of the things I talked about in that
presentation are true. If we can centralise a contact management system,
but decentralise adding people to it, centralise a calendar, but
decenralise the adding of events, centralise fundraising& decentralise
the spending of those funds, centralise presentation resources, but
recruit& train people into presenting GNOME locally, we have a
potential to motivate a global community of advocates.

Well that's exactly where I was getting at (glad you wrote all this). We've been pushing for GUGs creation in Asia through the GNOME.Asia Summits with some success but I feel a lot more could be achieved and I am realizing that communication with other GUGs hasn't been very active. I can tell from some GUGs website they are in needs of GNOME's topic, while the Taiwanese have nicely contacted us for ideas (which is great - at least there is a dialog and some needs).

With GNOME 3.0 approaching we should also leverage this network of involved people, that is if there are still involved.

I will look at the student task and follow up if I have any comment.

Thank you.

Fred
