Re: [guadec-list] Re: Final cost for the football equipment

Hey,

I mostly agree with Quim - this is supposed to be a fun event for a relatively small group of people. Spending 1000 euro on it seems a little steep when it could be spent on buying something to put in everyone's conference bags or something.

Let's get some cheap different coloured tshirts, and get each player to chuck in 5 euro towards the cost - I don't think most people will mind that much.

From a budget point of view, it's always possible to put back some cash into the GNOME Foundation at the end of the conference. That money won't be wasted, but instead will be used to fund people traveling to other conferences, or providing printed materials at various events. I guess we just need to find the balance between careful spending and having fun.

What we need is 40 t-shirts of 4 different colors, isn't it? We want it
branded, ok, let's put a foot on it and you have them for 5€ each in 2
days.
Right, maybe it's not needed to do it as cheap as I say, but... 1.400€??
When Devin said 1000€ it already sounded expensive to me. And again, not
because we have or we have not the money, but as a principle.

And I'm the same guy thinking that yes, we can spend 12€ per bag, but
well, I see a bag lasting and having a long term marketing effect. But a
whole futbol set given to 40 players... not sure.

In other words, are you sure you can't stay below the 1000€?

But it's not my money! If people think it's worth to spend the 1400€ to
get the real thing let's just go ahead. As I say, we spend this money
and more to bring one person from America to GUADEC...
