I also modified the simple example program under examples/book/entry/simple to
test the changes. I hope it is useful.

I added a Gtk::ComboBoxText to ExampleWindow to change the shadow type of the
entry.

Personally, I don't think it would make the API clearer. It would be an
unnecessary extra step. However, we should make sure that the documenation says
that groups and keys are added automatically.

Thanks. I have committed #2 to svn trunk (not gtkmm-2-12 because we don't add
API in stable versions). Please remember to patch the ChangeLog in future:

        * gtk/src/entry.hg: Added the shadow_type property that was added to 
        GTK+ in 2.12.
        Bug #532744

I have not committed the change to the example, because that doesn't really
make sense in simple example code. But it's great that you tested it.

I checked. It's already documented:

If you are still convinced that group creation should not be automatic then
please file a bug in GTK+. I don't think they would want that though.
