Ok, I guess we should keep it this way for now. I simply moved the 
undef's to the GLIBMM_CONFIGURE section of gtkmmconfig.h.in, to make it 
clear that this is a configure problem. I also copied your short comment 
from demowindow.cc.

Everything has been commited to CVS.
