The only problem I see is that neither Gtkglext nor Clutter/COGL have OpenGL profile support in context creation: you're stuck with an 8 year old version of OpenGL. But you probably only really need a more recent OpenGL if you're a game company like Valve, in which case you would be better off with something simpler like SDL2.


In fact I am using OpenSceneGraph. If I want to embed this "modern" OpenGL in a gtk widget, I am still need a GTK+ that supports OpenGL. Because osggtk can not work with gtk+ 3.0, I have to consider using qt. I think this is not the problem we are using an old OpenGL. We need a new official gtkglext just as gnome developers need clutter.
