Could gtk_widget_hide_on_delete() be wrapped to help that? I guess
you'd have to say \&Gtk2::Widget::hide_on_delete, which is a bit of a
mouthful.
(I remember back in the good old days Xt, or was it Xaw, or the M word,
dialogs having similar painful destroy-on-close stuff. Maybe it was the
other way around though, irritating to get it destroyed on closing ...)
