I yet have to see justification of gtk+ existence - other than legacy application like FireFox, GIMP, etc.

I.e. I don't see in what gtk+ is better than Qt. There was a thread here about gtk+ slowness compared to Qt.

gtk+-2.*.* is about 2x slower than Qt (IIRC) and gtk+-3.*.* was slower than gtk+-2.*.*.

I am using gtk+ through its Perl bindings - there were no good Qt Perl 
bindings at the moment I made my decision several years ago.

Nowadays there is QML ( 
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QML ) and in my opinion, though I do not 
know Javascript, it can be compared to Perl (e.g. closures are present),
 so today I'd probably choose Qt + QML.

I really want to hear insights from gtk+ "gods" in which they'll explain gtk+ advantages over Qt.
