Error diagnostic WRT themes is horrible in gtk+. I.e. error messages are
quite unclear, when they are printed, there is no clear indication which
directories were actually scanned.
Here is a piece I once read:
http://developer.gimp.org/api/2.0/gtk/gtk-running.html
didn't find it quite clear though ...
