Yes I did. Yast opens in text mode and says. Error.. Following packages 
haven't been found on the medium: gtk-devel. 
(The installation DVD is in the drive)

Yours says OSS mine doesn't. Meaning ?

package gtk-devel is not installed

After searching the DVD...

gtk-1.2.10-888.i586.rpm showed up. (no src as above). Is this what I needed to 
build MPlayer? if so the question is:

How can I know that I should find and install it even if yast system update 
doesn't show it? Or in other words how can I know that gtk-devel (which also 
doesn't show up) is needed and actually resides in this rpm?
