in general, very few window managers are written using the same
toolkits that are used to develop applications, though there are
exceptions.

perhaps you were asking "which WM's will allow me to run apps written
with GTK+/Qt/others ?", in which the answer is basically "all of
them". Under X Window, the WM is not a fixed part of the system, and
its interactions with applications are defined by X itself, not the
various toolkits that you might use.

if you try to use a GNOME-compliant application with a GNOME-ignorant
WM, somethings won't happen that would with a GNOME-aware WM. but
thats about the only difference.
