Hi, the FAQ is not up to date on threading suport.  In version 1.2
there is more direct support of threading.  There is some
documentation in the Changes-1.2 document.  It mostly consists of
replacing your own mutex calls with calls provided by gdk.

Since 1.2 is out now, somebody should move the relevent information
into the FAQ.  (probably already on somebody's TODO list?)
