menus and accelerators

  hello all,

  can someone give me please a short example how to add accelerators to a
menu ? i looked into gtkmenufactory.c and (i think) i did the same thing
in setting up the accelerators but it won't work for me :(. i'm not using
menufactory, i'm trying to learn to create menus with more control. i
managed to have the accelerators shown in the menu (like Alt+A ...), but
when i press Alt+A, nothing ever happens :(. and i'm attaching a function
to a "activate" signal to a menu item. 
  i'd be very grateful for a short example. also i think someone could
extend the FAQ related to menus with adding accelerators.
