Yes and no. I can manipulate the existing fonts (especially BDF fonts) and change their encoding. But even if I am to create new fonts, it is not possible to number some glyphs using unicode characters, because they represent characte sequences rather than single chacarters. That is why I am trying to figure out this mapping business. Thanks for all the replies. Anuradha
