how could i unregister the handler for any widget

hi,
i want to display text on GtkTextView with different
tag so i would like to unregister the default handler
to the TextView which print the text on the text view 
.i wrote few lines to create required tag in the
signal handler for key press event of the textview
and print the same by inserting it into the buffer.

hoping for solution
