All sucky apis have been dealt with in one way or the other.
Please review the changes in the gdk-backend branch. To
get an idea for the involved api changes, look at the
gdk-backend-deprecations branch, which is what will land in 2.x.
I also have a branch that tries to bring the quartz backend in sync
with these changes. It is probably very far from building or even
working.
