My guess is that people who use GTK+ seldom tend to stare at
executable sizes. Please also note that the size of GTK+ itself and
its dependencies is substantial. Before you ask, no, you can't link to
GTK+ statically. Yes, feel free to try to build GTK+ and its
dependencies yourself as static libraries.
As an example, "gtk-demo.exe", which is not a totally trivial
application, is 153 KB. The GTK+ DLL (libgtk-win32-2.0-0.dll) is 3.2
MB...
