It was much easier than I could ever have imagined... Yes I'm writing
the software, I simply parsed the gtkrc file from the directory of the
theme I wanted into the software and voila - exactly what I was looking for.
gtk_rc_parse("/usr/share/themes/Mist/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"); // This works perfect.
