The patches are only relevant to Pango HEAD; getting them to work
with pango 1.2.x isn't feasible.

I'm certainly planning to land this stuff prior to Pango-1.4.x; there
are a few issues that still need to be resolved with the code; in
particular, the problem with marks on ligatures discussed in
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121060.
