Hello,
Do any of my software choices (Anjuta, glade, GNU auto*) or library
dependencies (gtk+ 2.0, gnome2 [?], libglade [?]) limit my ability to write
a portable/localizable program?
Not especially. I think the most limiting factor would be "on what
platforms have gtk and gcc been ported?", to which I believe the answer
is "most major unices, windows, and OSX".
Any other suggestions or comments?
Definitely:
* I think glade is a good compromise between not enough and too much
hand holding the first time out. After that, you will probably want to
do the GUI code from scratch, although glade is still good for creating
all of the compile scripts.
* Be prepared to throw the first run totally away (eventually), because
no matter how much reading you do, you will miss some things the first
time around.
* Get on the glade mailing list (as well as this one); it will help you
big time.
