Automake error

 First sorry my bad english.
 So I have a problem. I write a simple aplication ( a button , an entry , a
 label in a vbox )  in glade. I would like translate it with autogen.sh, but it
 make an error :

aclocal: configure.in : 12: macro `AM_PATH_GTK` not found in library
 
 ./configure: line 524  :  syntax error near unexpected token
 ``AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(proba,0.1) `
 
 What is the problem ?
 Please answer my email because i am not a list member.
