ltrace might be useful too.
Or just run the app in gdb and get a backtrace wherever the app stops.
don't have ltrace and gdb is malfunctioning.
oh, well. thanks for the help!
Looks like a broken libc (and a broken gdb). Might want to reinstall
your system. (Or if it's a fresh install, install a different
system...)
