drawing area, image, pixmap?



I,m new to GTK, and trying to write a level(map) editor for a little
game. However, I'm totally lost
at which widget I should use to represent the "tiles" in the map.
Drawingarea, image, pixmap or some
of the GDK things?
Practically, the requirements is that the widget can hold 32bpp images
and that I can manipulate the
pixels inside it.
