Re: [gthumb-list] Catalogs

I'm seeing the growth rate of RSS memory: while the images are read (from a NAS) at the transfert rate of 10MB/s, RSS memory used by gthumb grows at the rate of 1MB/s.

UPDATE: gthumb ended reading all the images (about 2 hours) and it reached a memory usage of 5GB, but kept working with a little grow in memory usage, until, 5 minutes after ending the images reading, it crashed

Ok, I see...

The only problem is that it seems that gthumb needs to have all the images (or a big bunch of data from any of them) in memory in order to build the catalog.

My tree has 35k images, a total of about 70GB of data. While the catalog is built I'm seeing memory usage growing and growing, until all the ram and the swap space is eaten, and the system freezes.

Maybe it would be better to try reducing memory usage...

Hi guys!

I want to create a catalog in gthumb organizing all the images I have in
a very populated tree.

I thought I could right click on the tree root and find a create catalog
command, but it's not there...

How do I create a catalog with all the images in a folders tree?

Open the base directory of the tree and click Find, check 'Include subfolders' and select Images in the Rules list, that will search all the images in the tree and create a catalog for you.
