If I import a portrait orientated picture, exif tag "right-top"
1. Unselect "Rotate image physically"
- Image appears "portrait" oriented
- Orientation tag : "right-top"
- other programs (eog, gimp) open it as portrait
Sounds correct.
2. Select "Rotate image physically"
- Image appears "landscape" oriented
- Orientation tag : "right-top"
- other programs (eog, gimp) open it as landscape
Something is broken here. The orientation tag should be top-left, and
the image should be displayed in portrait orientation (because the data
has been physically transformed that way).
This is a bug. Please file a report. And fix it too :-)
I don't have any cameras that use the orientation flag, unfortunately.
And gthumb + exiv2 on Fedora 13 seems broken also
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=619714).
