found it, sorry for late, old bug, still open,
see: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnumeric/-/issues/329,
the 'No samples for ...' might have creeped in unnoticed because
the errors are supressed in general,
perhaps my observation can help to solve, will follow up in #329,
