One of my brokerages allows me to download my trading data in "MS

Gnumeric has problems loading it. OO Calc does a much better job.
The file turns out to contain HTML. My web browser displays it best.
Is Gnumeric supposed to handle this file properly?
I'm running Gnumeric 1.10.0 on Ubuntu 9.04

We have been able to obtain class rosters electronically from a secure
site. The standard option is always called "Excel format", although
that only means "a format that Excel can read". Currently, it is an
html file (as I found by viewing the file contents in emacs) with a
*.xls name. My usual way to work with the file in gnumeric is to save
the file and rename it to *.html. Gnumeric then knows how to read it.
