I was just fixing autocompletion in cells and did not like the
handling of it in 1.0.x.

what does star office do?
It mimics MS Excel display, but not keyboard behavior. As a test
case do the following.
1) start excel/gnumeric/opencalc
2) In Cell A1 type 'ABCD' without the quotes
3) Hit enter to go to cell A2
4) Type 'A' with no quotes and watch BCD get appended
In Excel you can use the arrow keys to move the selection
and both the in cell and the top edit lines contain the same text.
In OpenCalc you can _not_ use the arrow keys and both edit lines are
the same.
In Gnumeric you can _not_ use the arrow keys and only the in cell
edit line shows the completion.
None of the solutions seems palettable. Although I've prioritized
them by how ugly they seem (with gnumeric losing).
Any thoughts/proposals on how to make this less ugly ?
