building gnumeric with guppi

HI, i build gnumeric 1.1.13 from CVS but i don't install guppi3.
When i run ./autogen.sh in a guppi3 directory i get:

**Error**: You must have `automake' installed to compile Guppi.
Get ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/automake-1.3.tar.gz
(or a newer version if it is available)

but i have automake 1.7 installed!!
Help me please
