What OS/Distribution are you using ? At this point you have really
suffered far more than is necessry to get things installed. Most
modern distributions have things that work out of the box. You may
want to go that way. In my experience building everything from
source works smoothly, and using a set of packages from a single
source works smoothly. Attempting to use a combination of packages
and source invariably leads to these sorts of hellish problems.

Hi,

Okay, I hope I have this right. It's from a RedHat Linux 6.0
running the 2.2.15 kernel. I upgraded the entire GNOME installation
from source, including gnumeric. What I mentioned about packages
earlier was incorrect, I never installed anything GNOME from package
other than what the basic RedHat Linux 6.0 gave me.

Could it be possible that something left over from the original
packaged RedHat Linux 6.0 was not removed and thus conflicting
with guppi?
