Run guppi-gnumeric manually in one window, then fire up gnumeric in
another.  That way you'll get to see any errors or warnings from
guppi before it exits.  I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it is
saying somthing like
    'can not load default font : exiting'

You'll need to double check you gnome-print installation.
