I'd advocate that we operate on a principle of minimum disruption.
XL compatibility is a means of achieving that. If Microsoft has
changed the behavior of a routine between versions then there is
nothing to be compatible with. Make the fool thing correct and
ignore them. If there are multiple ways to do things we can use the
most recent version of XL as the deciding point (if it is correct).
