RE: Error in launching gnumeric

An alternative approach, for those uncomfortably with binary-only
distributions but who like the convenience and advanced management features
of RPM, may be to build your own RPM's from source, then install them as you
would any other RPM.

Most of the Gnome packages should be available as src RPM's to facilitate
this. Even if they are not the most recent builds, the spec files should
normally only require minor modification.

There is a HOWTO at http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/RPM-HOWTO/index.html which
I have found helpful.

Ian

Trying to install a mixture of packages and source is tricky.
Unless you know exactly what you are doing I would reccomend using
only packages or only source. Using both has all the problems of
building from source, plus the additional headache that you need to
know how the packages are installing things.

Good Luck
