new-line within cell

Is there any way to enter a carriage return/line feed/new-line within a
cell?

For example, I may want to list several items within one cell and have
each item appear on a separate line. I believe that the equivalent
action in Excel is when you do an Alt-Enter within the cell.

Most of the spreadsheets I work on are very basic and gnumeric is more
than powerful enough for my needs. I'm just missing this one formatting
feature.
