Have we both missed something that we should have read in the gnome-print
README???
-----Original Message-----
I finally installed Gnumeric and a bunch of files required.
Same here. But my setup is RedHat6.2 on a PC.
A little time after, a window from gnumeric popup with the
following messages:
"Please verify your gnome-print installation and that your
fontmap file (typically located in
/usr/local/share/fonts/fontmap) is not empty or near empty.
...see http://bugs.gnome.org
1. Values of LC_ALL and LANG environment
2. fontmap file, see above "
I get this also.
I liked the box that displayed the error.
First, I don't know what we have to verify in the gnome-print
installation.
Neither do I. My copy of gnome-print is 0.25
Second, I searched for a fontmap file in the path
/usr/local/share/fonts/fontmap and I didn't found
none.
There was none on my machine there either. This, of course, would explain
why gnumeric could not find it.
The fontmap files that I have found in the system are:
/var/adm/aplletalk/psfiles/fontmap
/usr/freeware/lib/ghost/fontmap
/var/freeware/share/ghostscript/6.0/lib/fontmap
You are doing better than me. I have no fontmap files on my system at all.
I also tried "setenv LC_ALL LANG"
I can say that this will not work. LANG is not a valid locale.
If you are in America try en_US, or for England just leave it blank. Others
will know what pair of characters belong to which locale.
After typing gnumeric, I didn't get the error "Glib-WARNING
**: getpwuid_r(): failed due to:
Function not implemented.", but I got another, "Gdk-WARNING
**: locale not supported by C library".
Unset LC_ALL. If you were happy with the language of the help files before
then you can safely leave LC_ALL unset.
What's happening here? Could you help me to solve this problems
As to the fontmap problem I too would like someone to help solve it.
Phill
