I am not familiar with the 'TasteOfDT/public/freeware' site.
However, a quick glance at it suggests that all the packages on in a
rather out of date. So it may not be the best place to start your
search. You have two choices.
1) find a site with more coherent set of packages for irix.
2) Build from source
(1) would be the prefered solution so I'll make a stab at listing
all the packages (direct & indirect). Some may not be needed for
version 0.54. However the current and future versions will need
them so I might as will list it for the archive.

ORBit
gnome-libs
libglade
ghostscript
gnome-print
gnumeric
gnome-core (for reading docs)
control-center (for reading docs)
libunicode.gnome (future version)
libole2 (future version)
gal (future version)
gdk-pixbuf (future version)
Hopefully that will be enought to get you up and running. A quick
warning that 0.54 is 6 months old. It has known bugs and
limitations.
