- - the GTK+ API for it is deprecated (which means it will go away in
the future)
- - the have been multiple bugs with it not showing it properly on one
desktop environment or another
- - it's not really compatible with GNOME (which is still a primary
desktop environment)

As a status icon user, can you provide a list of features you use the
most from status icon, that the removal cause inconvenience for?
Note: by "inconvenience" I mean something that is more dificult to use
without it, not that you have to use Gnote differently.
