George; Thanks for the info. I need to interface with people that use Windows and NetMeeting. Do you know of a NetMeeting substitute? NetMeeting is alive and well and used in many corporations. One particularly good feature is the ability to export a presentation on a desktop facilitating project development and similar things. I work in the Linux development area of our company but my guess is about +90,000 employees do there work on Windows. I set a goal to try and do everything in Linux that can be commonly done with Windows. A replacement for NetMeeting is one of those apps. Warren George wrote: Hi Warren, Gnomemeeting does not do text chat with Netmeeting. Netmeeting uses a proprietary "commercial" protocol for text chat. Gnomemeeting does not do remote desktop sharing either. There are other programs for linux that do the same thing, and do them better then Netmeeting, and as such are not integrated into Gnomemeeting. You might want to read Damien's explanation of what Gnomeeting is meant to be. You can find it on the Gnomemeeting web site. Gnomemeeting greatly surpasses Netmeeting in it's networking and VOIP capabilities. Gnomemeeting is not only a PC to PC VOIP application, but PC to PHONE as well when using a quicknet card. I use it mostly for PC to PHONE and the quality is excellent. Netmeeting is old technology and as far as I know, is no longer supported by Micro$oft. I don't know for sure, but I have heard mention that Gnomemeeting will be ported to Windoze. Maybe someone on the list can verify if that is true. GeorgeMy goal was to use GnomeMeeting as a NetMeeting substitute but GnomeMeeting may not be there yet. Do you know if the following is supposed to work because I can't seem to get these working. * Text chat with NetMeeting? * Reception of a NetMeeting exported DeskTop?_______________________________________________ GnomeMeeting-list mailing list GnomeMeeting-list gnome org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnomemeeting-list |
