I don't really want to run down here, but Damien said he could achieve
the same level of functionality. He's right; it means sending X messages
to do the notification area instead of linking to a freedesktop.org
library, and so on. Using a gconf replacement. Assuming gnomemeeting
uses these technologies.

No-one suggested removing functionality just to slash dependencies, and
I just wanted to reply to make it clear I wasn't suggesting that.
