Yeah, Damien, Go for iT! I'd be more than happy to see gnomemeeting become
gtkmeeting.
What advantages does Gnome give anyway? The ring when a call comes? The
registry-like gconf? I myself don't use Gnome so I have no idea what
"integration with the desktop" exactly means and feels like.
Maybe it is just me who uses a normal IM service usually and only starts
gnomemeeting when someone says "let's talk", and therefore not caring if
gnomemeeting has a tray icon or if it rings. I'd be very happy to see that
dependency gone. Should we make a poll how many non-gnome users use
gnomemeeting? Most of the people I've talked to using gnomemeeting do not use
Gnome at all (and a few of them even prefer to look for another VOIP solution
because of the dependency in question).
I wanted to say that for a long time, but didn't want to start a flame war, nor
was I sure if there was not some greater reason for depending on Gnome.
