damien, i know it will work on netmeeting, and can be used to exchange
video, typed messages and sound between two computers, either over a
network or through netmeeting, from reading the messages i have seen on
this messaging system for the last few weeks. and loaded the application
in the first place so i could use a linux application to do same on
netmeeting with a computer using the linux operating system. one of
the basic elements is that by typing in an address, one can use it for
communicating over just about any network and with just about any system
that is using the protocol it was built upon.
as i am not a computer system administrator, do not know networking
protocols or know the internal details of computer networking systems,
do not know the terminology, or technical language most of the
information exchanged on this messaging system is a mystery to me.
the question i posed some weeks ago goes like this: the application
is running, there is video, it is all ready to go.
one has to type in what i have seen, in the mail on this messaging
system in the last few weeks, is some kind of address to use gnomemeeting.
what does one type in that window to get on netmeeting, examine the
list of people you have entered as contacts, and then contact them????
in simple user english, not computerese. the files you presently have
assume far more knowledge in computer networking than i have. if i have
to build a list of each individual person's address on netmeeting, a
nice long string, with several commands, etc, that is fine. not a
problem. but i need specific information on how to do that in plain
"user english" and not computer technish. as you can see, i simply am
coming from an entirely different angle than everyone else you chat with
when it comes to using gnomemeeting. i am a computer user, not a
computer programmer, and in order to use linux application i do
appreciate i will have to learn some new information. and am attempting
to do so. you will be seeing a lot more people in the years to come
with my general user background attempting to comprehend an entirely new
way of doing things.
again, i appreciate all the hard work that has gone into gnomemeeting
by very skilled people who take a lot of pride in their programming.
and into linux in general.
There will be a manual in a few months, but I find it very weird when
people tell me they have no idea what to do with the software. Why did
you install it if you have no idea what it can do and how to do it?

join the crowd:i have yet to get a straight answer out of anyone on how
to do ANYTHING with it. no help file, no instructions, simply zip
that is comprehendable by a user, not a computer programmer
