Re: [GnomeMeeting-list] sorry again

Hi;

No need to worry, most of your remarks were right, but the only thing we
can improve on our side is the user documentation.

Each application such as GnomeMeeting should respect a protocol, ie a
common language to communicate with other applications of the same type.
GnomeMeeting respects the H.323 protocol, so it will be compatible with
every other H.323 application like Netmeeting under windows.

However, MSN Messenger doesn't respect the H.323 protocol, but the SIP
protocol. GnomeMeeting doesn't support (yet) SIP, but it is planned in
the near future (next year). I don't know what protocol Yahoo Messenger
is using for video conferencing, but I think it is a non-standard
protocol only known from Yahoo itself, which makes it incompatible with
every other application. However I'm not sure. I can only affirm that
you can not call MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger users with
GnomeMeeting. However you can call Netmeeting users and of course other
GnomeMeeting users.
