Re: [GnomeMeeting-list] Newbie: slow video

Hello again,

No I have not tried GM to GM. That's what I was interested in doing when I ran into the libc6 thing. But you know, sometimes the most obvious answer is the most obscure, as I did not even think to look for older RPMS that might work with my Mandrake 7.2 install. Doe! I will take a look and post my results.

As for the webcam driver, I'm using a Bt848 capture card and my camcorder. There does seem to be a slight glitch in GM because it does not set the capture card to the right "channel" which in this case is composite input/NTSC. I have to first load Kwintv (yeah, I'm in Gnome but it works for this purpose) and get the camera going, then GM displays an excellent source image.

It *could* be that the WinTV card does not support the smaller frame sizes that GM seems to like. When I try to set the "set size" in Kwintv to something smaller than 320x240 it behaves rather strangely and appears to allow any vertical resolution but is fixed at 320 minimum. No idea what the problem is there, but I'll look into that as well. ANyway, my thought was that perhaps GM is trying to send this much larger video size and that is what's causing the slowdown.

Just a thought. THanks for the input. Like I said, if I find out anything I'll post the results.

Paul
